  • linear, alternating leaves
  • distinct midrib vein on underside
  • leaf edge and base contain small sharp teeth-like serrations

Flowers

  • white / yellow to blue coloured flowers in groups of 3-6 (clusters)
  • spring and summer

Fruit

  • succulent, spherical-shaped blue berry
  • 7-12mm in diameter

Human Use

  • Aboriginal people ate the fruit raw and crushed roots
  • fibrous leaves used to make waistbands, footwear, nets, traps and baskets
