  • leafy twining climber which prefers moist, shaded locations

Leaves

  • dark green stems initially leafless
  • shiny alternating, linear, dark green leaves
  • paler in colour beneath the leaf
  • distinct mid-vein

Flowers

  • drooping white flowers to 10mm in clusters
  • flowers from September– February

Fruit

  • fruit is a spherical black berry (initially green)
  • up to 2cm diameter

Human Use

  • young shoots can be cooked as they taste like asparagus
