Toohey Forest Environmental Education Centre provides day visit programs for both public and private schools across south east Queensland. To secure your preferred booking date/s, please complete the online booking form at the earliest convenience.
Please note that there are limitations upon the numbers of students that the centre can host per day. The maximum number may be influenced by the student year level/s, the program being undertaken, the specific learning needs of students attending etc. Further information on the recommended number of students for your excursion can be obtained by contacting the centre on (07) 3735 6557 or email principal@tooheyforesteec.eq.edu.au.
Once you have a confirmed booking, please note that it is the responsibility of the visiting school to ensure the following:
- Students attending the excursion have the written approval of parents / carers.
- Notify centre staff if there are significant changes in the numbers of students attending.
- Advise centre staff of any students with specific requirements (e.g. wheelchair access, severe learning difficulties, acute medical conditions etc.)
- Student medical details and medication are available to ambulance officers in the event of an accident/injury requiring medical attention.
- Students with diagnosed complex health conditions (e.g. severe allergies, anaphylactic reactions) must have an Action Plan for Anaphylaxis signed by a medical practitioner. These plans incorporate information such as the signs and symptoms and planned responses to an individual student's severe allergic reaction. An adult accompanying the student must be familiar with the action plan and the administration of the student's auto injector. Further details can be found by consulting the Department of Education's Anaphylaxis guidelines for Queensland state schools (PDF, 1.2MB).
- The accompanying teacher/s should have perused the centre's Student Code of Conduct (PDF, 663KB).
Curriculum Activity Risk Assessments (CARA) relevant to the program that you have booked are available upon request. The Department of Education website provides additional information, including advice on how to manage risks in school curriculum activities (PDF, 354KB) and a flowchart detailing the CARA process (PDF, 291KB).
Toohey Forest Environmental Education Centre encourages students and staff to pack a litter free lunch. A litter free lunch contains no throwaway packing and everything can be either re-used, composted or recycled. Therefore food should be brought to the centre in re-usable containers and drinks in refillable plastic bottles. Pre-packaged foods are discouraged.
