Dog Vomit fungus (a type of slime mould)

Description

  • yellow to orange sticky irregular mass of various sizes when first formed (resembles solid scrambled eggs)
  • with age, the colour changes from yellow to white and eventually to a brown-black dusty mass
  • the interior colour of the spore mass is violet-black

Habitat

Usually on garden mulch, wet grass and bark, dead wood and woodchip mulch
