Eucalyptus - Greek - derived from eu “well”
and kalyptos "covered”
resinifera - Latin - resina (resin) fera (bearing), (however this is an anomaly since it was incorrectly applied to a species of angophora)
Description
- Tree to 35 m
- Stringy, red bark
- Woody fruits to 8 mm
- Leaves to 25 mm dark green above, paler below
- Longevity in excess of 100 years
Human uses
Leaf concoction was used as a drink and the inner bark rubbed into syphilitic sores
