​Derivation of name

Cordyline  derived from the Greek word kordyle, meaning club and refers to the enlarged underground stem or rhizome

petiolaris - Latin epithet meaning "with petiole"

Description 

  •  Palm-like narrow, upright plant to 5 metres, oven multi-trunked
  •  Leaves to 85 cm
  •  White to lilac flowers to 10 mm
  •  Red fruit to 10 mm in panicles

Human uses

Berries edible when fully ripe, December to May
