​Derivation of name

Psidium  genus name comes from the Latin psidion, or "armlet."

Description 

  •  Evergreen shrub to 10 metres
  •  Dense canopy of dull green leathery leaves with prominent vein
  •  Older stems covered in reddish-brown bark, young stems green
  •  Single white flowers to 25 mm
  •  Fruit to 10 cm turn from green to yellow as it ripens, pink pulp containing numerous seeds
